Prysm has installed a 13ft x 4ft video wall as the new backdrop for Dubai TV's sports broadcast studio. The lifesize display solution transformed the Dubai set into a stunning, visual experience. Powered by Prysm’s Laser Phosphor Display (LPD) technology, the new display enhances the broadcast experience with crisp, high-definition images, all while using the same power as a household hairdryer.
“We met with four other manufacturers of different video wall platforms before deciding that Prysm was the right solution for the studio,” said Rashed Amiri, Head of Dubai sports channel. “The qualities and features of Laser Phosphor Display technology within the broadcast environment are in line with what we want to bring to the sports channel in the future.”
Prysm’s LPD video wall will enrich the studio’s sporting coverage by enabling captivating reporting on events around the world. Inspired by the video walls used in weather reports, the Prysm video wall will display a large scale map of the world as the backdrop of the Dubai Sports news desk. Reporters will be able to scroll through the interactive display and highlight different sporting events happening in various regions of the world, and then zoom in on event pictures using special graphics transitions. It will also be used as the main backdrop for the Dubai TV news desk that often includes news reports and multi-party discussions. The Prysm video wall will be used to conference in various speakers in different locations, as well as display sports statistics and event time tables.
Ideal for broadcast, Prysm's video wall has an ultra-wide 178° viewing angle which allows viewers, no matter the angle, to view the screen without any change in brightness or color. Unlike LCD technology, different camera angles look flawless with LPD. Prysm's displays have the smallest seams at .25mm, auto brightness and color uniformity, and crisp motion with no blurring. Furthermore, the color temperature of the displays can be easily adjusted to accommodate any environment lighting as needed. The color of each tile can also be adjusted individually from 11,000K to 2400K to ensure that skin tones are portrayed naturally.
“We are proud to have been a part of this project and to have our screens feature on such a prestigious channel in the region,” said Tanvir Osama, Prysm’s Director of Sales in the Middle East and India. “Dubai TV is has an inspirational presence in the industry. For the channel to fully endorse Prysm speaks volumes about the quality and long term impact LPD technology will have, transforming screen backdrops and live correspondence displays.”
