SAN JOSE, Calif. – Nov. 15, 2012 – Prysm Inc., the video solutions provider offering brilliant life-like and life-size displays for truly immersive experiences, announced today the completion of its second installation in Dubai Media Inc’s (DMI) brand new News Center-Studio C, the biggest and most advanced HD/3G studio in the Middle East. The Prysm installation consists of two Laser Phosphor Display (LPD) videowalls, one curved and measuring 30’ wide by 6’ tall, and one measuring 13’ wide by 5’ tall. Both feature the world’s highest-resolution screen display to deliver stunning, life-sized images using low-power, solid-state lasers.
Setting an environmentally conscience standard for others to follow, DMI is the first paper and printer-free studio of its kind in the Middle East. Prysm contributes to DMI’s green initiative as each 25-inch display tile averages 30 watts of power, reducing energy consumption by up to 75 percent from traditional LCD and rear-projection technologies. The videowall will be used as a correspondence and backdrop screen for presenters during live broadcasts, so the technology platform selected had to perform under intense studio conditions with consistent, uniform viewing angles of up to 180 degrees. Also important for broadcast, the color temperature of LPD ranges from 11,000K to as low as 2700K, ensuring broadcaster skin tones are portrayed accurately via live feeds.
Prysm’s LPD technology is already in use at DMI; in late 2011 Prysm installed a large-format videowall within the Dubai TV Sports Studio. Prysm was selected in each case for its unique features that made it ideal for broadcast. Best-in-class field of vision makes the most recent wall viewable from any angle and position in the studio. Prysm also provides DMI a low cost of ownership because its continuous image technology never requires the need for color adjustment for the life of the display.
