Digital display solutions innovator, Prysm, is proud to announce the company’s first Middle East broadcast installation on the studio of Dubai TV’s sports channel. Installing a 13ft x 4ft video wall as the new backdrop for the sports studio, Prysm’s display solution transformed the Dubai set into a stunning, visual experience. Powered by Prysm’s revolutionary Laser Phosphor Display (LPD) technology, the new display enhances the broadcast experience with its low power consumption, wide viewing angle and crisp images.
“We met with four other manufacturers of different video wall platforms before deciding that Prysm was the right solution for the studio,” said Rashed Amiri, Head of Dubai sports channel. “The qualities and features of Laser Phosphor Display technology within the broadcast environment are in line with what we want to bring to the sports channel in the future.”
Dubai TV selected Prysm’s LPD video wall to enrich the studio’s sporting coverage by enabling captivating reporting on events around the world. Inspired by the video walls used in weather reports, the Prysm video wall will display a large scale map of the world as the backdrop of the Dubai Sports news desk. Reporters will be able to scroll through the interactive display and highlight different sporting events happening in various regions of the world, and then zoom in on event pictures using special graphics transitions. It will also be used as the main backdrop for the Dubai TV news desk that often includes news reports and multi-party discussions. The Prysm video wall will be used to conference in various speakers in different locations, as well as display sports statistics and event time tables.
“I first became aware of this new technology platform at PALME Middle East exhibition,” explained Ihab El Baba, Managing Director of Baba Broadcast Services. “The crisp picture quality, low power consumption and long life span are all qualities that go beyond existing platforms and I will recommend that other stations use this for studio backdrops from now on.”
Prysm’s LPD display solutions are ideal for broadcast due to the platform’s ultra-wide, 178° viewing angles, perfect for different camera angles. Furthermore, the temperature of the displays can be easily adjusted to accommodate the environment as need be, and the color of each tile can be individually adjusted from 11,000K to 2700K to ensure skin tones are portrayed accurately and in line with the presenters in the studio.

Built on solid-state lasers to deliver brilliant image quality, Prysm’s LPD technology offers a number of benefits for broadcast environments.
